Shepards Purse
Shepards Purse- The botanical name for Shepherds purse herb plant is Capsella bursa pastoris. It also goes by several common names, including St. Anthony’s fire, St. James’ wort, St. James weed, toywort, cocowort, pickpocket and shepherds heart. As with many dried herbs, it is most potent the fresher it is, and should be stored in an airtight container in a cool and dark place and replaced yearly.
Shepherds purse herb is high in vitamin C and may help with scurvy. It is also commonly used as an astringent and may help to increase urine flow. Shepherds purse herb may also quicken physiological process activity as a stimulant. Pregnant women and people with kidney stones should not take this herb.
Often used in kidney complaints and dropsy.
